Why Learn Bhagavad Gita Chanting?
Almost a year back our team decided to create videos on Bhagavad Gita Chanting.
Need Identified: While Bhagavad Gita is available in more than 80% of Indian households, it is not
that widely read hence engagement with this great scripture is way beyond.
Reasons Identified: Reading the translations or from someone else's perspective which may or may
not resonate with the individual.
Solution Offered:
- As a first step, learn to read the Bhagavad Gita in Original Sanskrit text by knowing the construct of shlokas and learn the correct pronunciation of the shlokas
- Second step is to understand the meaning of words and how it translates into sentence/s
- Third Step is to comprehend what each shloka is telling me (with me being the Arjun and fighting my own unique battle!)
- Fourth step is to engage with the Bhagavad Gita towards the journey of self-improvement and being a better version of self
- Fifth step is to embark into the journey of consistent continuous improvement leading to HAPPINESS (the goal of every life!)
Keeping the above in mind our team embarked in the first step, which is to help people learn to read the Bhagavad Gita in original Sanskrit text. It guides the philosophy of living by answering all questions with rationale and logic which mankind face in the pursuit of life. Teachings of the Bhagavad Gita inspires the learner to see the reality for herself/himself and makes her/him capable of carving out her/his own path to righteousness (Swadharma)
Like we use Google maps (GPS) to reach a destination, if we have Gita Practicing System (GPS) we will be able to reach the destination of life – HAPPINESS. When we examine from an educational perspective, the verses of the Bhagavad Gita depicts the duties of an ideal teacher as performed by Krishna to guide his student Arjuna who seeks for his help and guidance in overcoming the delusion of mind and maintain focus toward the duties that are expected of him.
